The inspiration for the general topic of PRIVATSACHEN’s new collection – Diving the Goddress – came from designer Connyie Rethmann’s research into the goddesses of ancient cultures. In this day and age of religious wars and crises of faith, Connyie started examining what exactly she held holy in her life. She analysed her own doctrines and dogmas and came to the conclusion that she has always been guided by her own intuition. Democratic sizes, environmentally-friendly production methods and materials, high quality handcrafting and limited editions are not mere concessions to the zeitgeist: they have always been core elements in cocon.commerz’s textile philosophy. These qualities have now been elevated to the status of Articles of Faith and incarnated in three new lines which are to be launched for Summer 2008: “JA, ich will” (formal wear), “biograviel” (the organic collection) and “ur-Teile und vorur-Teile made in Hamburg” (one-of-a-kind pieces hand-made in Hamburg).
