cocon.commerz: translating the language of clothes

cocon.commerz is an alternative to the 'here-today, gone-tomorrow' ethos of the fashion industry: we aim to create eternal, individual and high-quality PRIVATE CLOTHES for enduring pleasure. The self-taught designer Connyie Rethmann takes inspiration from her own reality: "I follow my intuition - it is a form of knowledge". The language of the clothes is couched in metaphors inspired by the subject of each collection. Connyie's work goes further than simply designing a new style - her aim is to create clothes for a new image of woman. Intuitively she designs garments that exist outside standardised ideals of beauty. Inspired by the Asian aesthetics of simplicity and the opulence of historical dresses, she creates onesize garments for women who have the greatness and daring to wear them.
